What Are the RIAS Berlin Awards?
RIAS Media Awards 2026
The RIAS Media Awards are presented in recognition of the achievements of RIAS Berlin between 1946 and 1993 as a transatlantic bridge committed to truth and democracy and the symbolic value of the former broadcasting station “Radio in the American Sector” as an outstanding example of German-American cooperation.
The awards are presented for contributions in the categories of radio, podcast, television, digital and online that have made a special contribution to international understanding between the Federal Republic of Germany and the United States of America.
Contributions can be submitted on American or German topics that deal with either the transatlantic relationship or international topics that highlight German and American interests. There is no restriction to specific subject areas. Submissions must have been published in the calendar year prior to the award ceremony.
The selection will be made by the German-American jury of the RIAS Berlin Commission. Legal recourse is excluded. Prize money totaling € 10,000.00 will be paid out to the winners.
Submission Requirements:
- Full name, title, business address, phone number, and email
- Posting date(s), running length, and word count of the story
- itle and brief description of the entry
- Explanation of your role in the production
All entries must be received no later than January 15, 2026. Submitted materials cannot be returned, and all work must be the primary effort of the entrant(s).
Awards Ceremony
The RIAS Media Awards ceremony will take place in Berlin, on the 7th of May. Qualified expenses, including travel and hotel, will be covered for each award winner attending the event.
